Success Stories
Cat (pictured above) is a 21 year old beautiful bay gelding. He's a Saddlebred and is inquisitive and sensitive. Cat's got the sweetest personality, comes to his name and will do anything for a cookie. He loves children but we wouldn't deem him as a "beginners" horse because he is so sensitive and relies on his rider and handler to help him feel confident. He has been broke to drive (though would likely need a refresher) and rides off nicely.
He's been with the same owner for the past 17 years and this life change has been a tricky one for him, however, he's looking forward to meeting his next family <3 He is up to date on all of his veterinary care, farrier work, deworming etc.

Merlin is a gorgeous 21 year old Tennessee Walking Horse Gelding. He's very kind and well mannered and is a sensitive soul. He get a little anxious when he's not sure about a situation, so having a calm and confident rider will be best for him. He's got several fun gaits and is a true joy to be around.
Merlin was adopted in March of 2020!
Dolce (above) is a registered Swedish Warmblood that was born and raised by only one family until he was surrendered June 2019 to Refuge Ranch because of owner's life circumstances. He's broke to ride and is currently back in dressage training to gain back some topline muscle! He's the herd leader and enjoys a good scratch on the neck from his human friends. He is a wonderful find and will make somebody a fantastic dressage partner in his golden years. Dolce has been adopted!

Charlie is an eight year old beautiful chocolate brown miniature gelding. He has been led while giving kids rides but he is not considered broke to ride or drive at this time. He's incredibly smart and respectful of fences. He will be UTD on vaccinations (4/5/19), coggins (4/5/19), deworming (safeguard 3/22/19) and farrier care (3/27/19) before being rehomed. If you're interested in a sweet little miniature gelding to teach tricks and to drive then Charlie may be the #RightHorse for you! **Charlie was adopted May 2019!**

"Lord Dante" is a sweet, 17 year old gelding that was saved 2/10/19. We suspect his tale is one of being loved while he was useful but as he aged he was replaced and sent down the road. Dante is now UTD on vaccinations (2/28/19), coggins (2/28/19), farrier care (3/4/19) and deworming (3/23/19 Safeguard)! He's very easy to get along with and super well behaved for the vet & farrier.
Dante was adopted April 26th, 2019!

Would you just look at that face! <3 Dexter is a sweet, loving donkey gelding that was surrendered to us (with Charlie, the mini) because his family didn't have the space or resources to properly care for him. His job was to teach the calves to lead by attaching the calf to Dexter and letting him do his thing. He has cellulose deposits and has likely foundered previously so will need a home that keeps his protein intake low and restricts access to fresh, green grass with high sugar levels. Dexter is currently up to date on deworming (Safeguard 3/22/19), farrier care (3/27/19) and will be up to date on vaccinations and coggins (4/5/19) before being ready to leave. He is said to be broke to ride though we haven't thoroughly evaluated his riding skills yet! Dexter's been adopted! May 2019!

Raven: This lovely little mare is on the search for her loving adoptive family! She's an 18 year old branded Mustang mare. She's had a laminitic episode in the past but is currently sound and doing really well. She is an honest horse that is currently best suited for an advanced beginner on up though she has the personality to be a total beginner horse with a few more miles! Her adoption fee has been set at $600 and she is up-to-date on her vaccinations (7/3/19), deworming (6/30/19 Pyrantel Pamoate), coggins (7/3/19) and farrier care (7/18/19). Easy to catch, lead, tie, groom, fly spray, bathe, trailer, handle for vet and farrier etc. She's just a great little mare! Raven's adoption fee is $600 and she is available for viewing at Refuge Ranch Ministries in Blooming Prairie.

"Lady Mischief"
This pretty, 15 hand, 11 year old Palomino mare was rescued 2/10/19.
She's a super fast learner as she came to RRM without simple elementary skills such as catching, haltering & leading. She's in daily training with ground work and will proceed to riding work when she's ready. At this point she is not broke to ride and will require an educated handler to continue growing her skills and confidence. She is now UTD on veterinary care (2/28/19), coggins (2/28/19) & deworming (2/23/19 Safeguard). She's on a routine farrier schedule (she's barefoot). Please inquire if you're interested in meeting Lady and feel she may be the #RightHorse for you! <3
Lady was adopted in May 2019!

Cinnamon is a 21 year old registered breeding stock paint mare. Perfect home includes educated horse adults with upcoming 4hers! This girl has evidence of showmanship and halter work, jumping, western and English riding and trails! She is UTD on all deworming (4/20/18), farrier work (she's barefoot) and vaccinations (tetanus/west nile/Eastern & Western Sleeping Sickness, Rabies, Flu/Rhino all given 5/22/18). She will need her teeth floated this year yet. Cinnamon was adopted in 2018!

Skipper is a registered Quarter Horse mare. She's 14 or 15 years old and has such a wonderful, easy going personality! She's well broke to ride and a pleasure to be around She does have quite a few spots of melanoma (as can be quite common with grey horses) but has been seen by a few vets throughout the years and still lives a quality life! Skipper was adopted in 2018!

Maverick's Blue Blazes ("Hershey") is a registered AMHR gelding. He's 12 years old and is as adorable as can be. He's broke to ride and drive and loves to play, eat & work! Hershey is healthy & UTD on vaccinations, farrier, deworming & back into a work program. He found a family to call his own in 2018!

"Katie" is a 30 year old miniature mare who has so much life left to live! She has all her teeth and is UTD on vaccinations & Coggins, deworming, and farrier. No known health issues!
She has the teddy-bear look and a firey personality. She has competed in hand in agility courses and in therapy environments. Super easy to lead and load, usually easy to catch, ties, stands to be groomed, great for vet, farrier and deworming! Katie was adopted in 2018!

"Izzy" (the silver dapple on the left) is a 30 year old miniature mare. She has also been used as an agility course horse and in therapy environments. Super easy to catch, lead and load, ties, stands to be groomed, great for vet, farrier and deworming! UTD on vaccinations & coggins, deworming and farrier work. Izzy does have cushings disease and receives 1/2 tablet Prascend 1x/day. Izzy was adopted out with Katie in 2018!

Spirit is an adorable 12 year old miniature that was trapped in a small shed and fed cornstalks up until the day that one of RRM's beloved board members found him & offered to purchase him from his owner. He came to us still a stallion and needed to be brought up to date on vet, farrier, proper nutrition, dental work & ground manners. He found his new home by Christmas 2018!

Perfect Quatorze ("Ty") is a 2007 Thoroughbred gelding. Ty is a medical miracle and we thank God for his health today! Ty is up to date on all of his dental work, sheath cleaning, farrier care (he's great barefoot!), veterinary care, vaccinations and deworming. He's currently in Dressage training but has history of 3 day eventing! Through the help of social media a previous owner of Ty's was able to take him back into her care in 2018! He's living in Kentucky again now happily ever after!

Solitary River (aka River) is a jockey club registered off-the-track thoroughbred mare. She's 22 years old and there aren't enough wonderful words in webster's dictionary to describe her! <3 She lived her youthful years as a broodmare and she has a really nice looking pedigree (and was once sold for $98,000!). Broke to ride and gets along well with other horses! She came to us as an owner surrender and we know she has a hard time keeping weight on as she arrived with a body condition score of a 2/9. River has reunited her adoptive family with the love of horses in 2018!
A Tale of 22 Mini's! RRM was called to a home of an ailing elderly man who had bred miniature horses for several years August of 2017. We brought up 3 trailers and were able to bring 22 of the 30 head of horses back with us. We worked quickly to get them farrier and vet care, assess their training and overall condition and needs. God brought forth a family for each mini within eight days! We held onto them a bit longer if needed but it was such a miracle they found their new loving homes so quickly! <3
Icon was pulled from the slaughter pipeline on 6/6/2020 (through no fault of his own) & is fully rehabbed & ready to be someone's #righthorse! He's been fully vetted, and has routine farrier care (he's a great barefoot horse with nice sturdy hooves). The sky is the limit for this guy - we cannot wait to see who his right person is! Icon has been transferred to Horses' Haven in Michigan.
